Mumford Resident Bios
Dr Ryan Aman grew up in Manila, Philippines and moved to Halifax, NS in 2023. He completed his medical degree at De La Salle University from the Philippines and graduated in 2018. Ryan’s medical interests include infectious disease, child health, cancer care, and preventative medicine. His hobbies include playing volleyball, table tennis, badminton, going to the gym, content creation, food, and fashion. Ryan enjoys visiting different cafes, going for walks, watching Netflix/series, and hanging out with his friends.
Dr Francisca Annan is originally from Ghana, and she grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She completed her medical degree at Dalhousie and graduated in 2025. Francisca’s medical interests include Newcomer health, sexual & reproductive health, and addictions medicine. She enjoys trying new recipes, taking dance or spin classes, and catching up with friends.
Dr Basim Ansari grew up in Pakistan. He completed his medical degree at the National University of Sciences and Technology and graduated in 2009. Basim’s medical interests include cardiology and preventive medicine. He enjoys tennis, soccer, and hiking. He is the proud dad of 3 wonderful young kids (7, 5, and 8-months old).
Dr Meg Dahn grew up in St. Albert, AB. She graduated from medical school at Dalhousie University in 2026. Her medical interests include oncology and palliative care. Her hobbies include native plant gardening and cooking.
Dr Tom Hatfield grew up in Halifax. He completed medical school at Dalhousie University in 2026. His medical interests include family medicine, emergency medicine, and POCUS. His hobbies include cycling, surfing, running, and cooking. He enjoys spending time with friends and family and being outdoors, preferably by the ocean.
Dr Edu Herrera Rios grew up in Guadalajara, Mexico. He completed his medical degree at Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara and graduated in 2015. His medical interests include geriatrics and sports medicine. His hobbies include biking, hiking, and practicing on his guitar, and cooking. He’s recently spent a lot of time cooking (Mexican food mostly), but he is trying to take advantage of the beautiful Nova Scotian nature and go biking and hiking as much as he can. Edu and his wife and are expecting their first child! He has two amazing and hard-working parents, and the best siblings (1 brother and 2 sisters) ever!
Dr Niki Khamisi grew up in Isfahan, Iran. She completed medical school at Isfahan University of Medical Sciences and graduated in 2022. Her medical interests include preventive medicine, geriatrics, sports medicine, and women’s health. Her hobbies include practising yoga, exploring cafés and local shops, and watching anime.
Dr Reanna Laltoo grew up in Bedford, NS. She completed medical school at Dalhousie University in 2026. She also has a BSc from Mount Allison University and an MSc(A) from McGill University. Her medical interests include newcomer health, sexual health, and dermatology. Her hobbies include bouldering, reading, and gardening. Dr. Laltoo and her husband have a rescue dog named Suki.
Dr Dora Lamptey grew up in Akosombo, a town in Ghana, West Africa. She attended the University of Ghana Medical School and graduated in 2020. Her medical interests include preventive medicine, clinical research, and communication in healthcare. Her hobbies include sewing, baking, and swimming. She is married with two children. Dr. Lamptey enjoys spending time with family and volunteering.
Dr Carly Mayhew-Gallant grew up in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. She completed medical school and graduated in 2026. She is interested in all aspects of family medicine and hopes to learn more about working in collaborative care settings and managing her own roster of patients. She is excited about the opportunities to explore obstetrics and gynecology and women’s health in Halifax. Her background as a respiratory therapist has encouraged her interest in managing both acute and chronic lung disease as a family physician. She likes to hike, spin, kayak, and read. She also loves to host board game nights and explore new areas of Nova Scotia that she hasn’t visited before.
Dr Ross Porter grew up in Chester, NS. He completed medical school at Dalhousie University and graduated in 2026. His medical interests include emergency medicine and addiction medicine. His hobbies include sailing and snowboarding. His wife is an RN in the city, and they are expecting a baby soon. He enjoys spending time with friends, going sailing, and spending time with his miniature long-haired dachshund.
Dr Iqbal Sarai grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia. He completed medical school at the University of Galway and graduated in 2026. His medical interests include cardiovascular disease, pain management, sports medicine, and neurology. His hobbies include soccer and ultimate frisbee.
Dr Anneka Sheppard grew up in Sydney, Nova Scotia. She completed her medical degree at Dalhousie University and graduated in 2025. Anneka’s medical interests include sports medicine, women's health, and sexual health. Anneka’s hobbies include soccer, running, and snowboarding. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the beach or doing jigsaw puzzles.
Dr Madeline Tweel grew up in Charlottetown, PE. She completed her medical degree at Dalhousie University and graduated in 2025. Her medical interests include women’s health, obstetrics, mental health, gender affirming care, minor procedures, preventative care. She cherishes time with her family, partner, and friends! Madeline likes being creative and she enjoys the outdoors. Her hobbies include pottery (and other art), cooking, reading, and sailing. She is the oldest of four kids!
